Tempted to give my son computer programming lessons the way that I learned: by typing programs out of the book BASIC Computer Games.

So needless to say, I owe a lot to Richard, who is now somewhere in Costa Rica if my memory serves.

He was the reason I got to run a BBS. And, with even more irony, the first modem I used (a 300 baud acoustic coupler) was one he helped design at Anderson Jacobsen. And surely I ran up his credit cards on GEnie back in the day too.

With the exception of the TRS-80 model MC-10 my dad bought me, every other personal computer I had access to until high school came from him or one of his friends. The first computer I bought was from one of his friends actually.

Richard exposed me to my first computer: an Apple II plus. I still remember him telling to type RUN HELLO

Here's a photo of my mom and y step father. Ironically they only married after I graduated college and then they split up. This is after being together for most of my childhood. Image [photos.app.net]

I think I'm going to have to dig up a photo of my step-father too. I'm not sure I'd be half as talented at computers if it weren't for him.11
