"Calorie counting" assumes a couple things:

  • All calories affect the body the same way (they don't)
  • Those effects don't change over time (they do, for various reasons)

And it completely ignores the role of insulin, the master hormone that controls whether you are burning fat or storing fat. Because, guess what: you can't do both at the same time.

Weight Watchers, I mean WW CEO says they will “always be the best at the science of eating as healthy as you can, period.”

And yet, they still talk about points [washingtonpost.com], which is just another way to count calories. Which, anyone who's dieted knows doesn't work.

my goal is to get to about 86kg, which is where the BMI chart says I am merely "overweight." If I can get my waist/height ratio down to a 0.5 or less, that would also be good. To do that, I need to lose another 15cm (or 6 inches) around the waist.

I'd like to get a bit closer to 89.6kg. Currently about 103kg…

In case you're wondering, Android is still horribly insecure, particularly if you're buying budget devices [bleepingcomputer.com]. The expensive devices are somewhat better, but I still prefer iOS from a security standpoint.

That's real quick!

there is no going back.

over what time?

I'd be unbearable if I didn't have a job for 10 months :)

Hopefully it is profitable.
