The reality is we all communicate through pipes owned by a handful of large companies. Until we move to completely decentralized systems for transport and hosting of content, we're always going to vulnerable to someone in the middle snooping on what we do.

And no, VPNs don't help much, they just move the point at which snooping can be done somewhere else.

I actually took a walk around my neighborhood today. It's not raining…or cold.

once you do that, you'll realize what a nightmare it has become and wish you hadn't. :P

I haven't had much issues with it so far, thankfully. That said, I'm not using it every day for ALL my communications.
