@c I approve of second-hand purchases of Apple gear, assuming they've replaced the battery in it, as they stop working well after a couple of years.

@matigo there was a time when those interest rates were illegal and usury. Now, it’s common practice.
@matigo given the business travel I do, and the fact I'm occasionally having to order marketing swag, a credit card is definitely needed. We pay the thing off, of course, because paying 20% interest is for chumps.
@matigo rent and regular bills give you some credit history. Not as much as having a credit card, which is becoming increasingly difficult to do in the US anyway.
