Been a couple months since I’ve boarded a shiny metal tube. Heading to the Bay Area for some office time.
@kdfrawg very true, it’s uncommon here, mostly because historically, the number of really hot days in a year could be counted on one hand.
Meanwhile, my wife grew up in the South, where it was a requirement, so we’ve had it pretty much every place we’ve lived.

Some interesting insights learned while researching to write a book on Claude Shannon: https://medium.com/the-mission/10-000-hours-with-claude-shannon-12-lessons-on-life-and-learning-from-a-genius-e8b9297bee8f
@matigo yup. That and deal with moar construction. Monday, they will start putting up the roof over our new patio.
@matigo It's only been 40C in Seattle one time since I've lived here. That said, they're backing off a little on the forecast, but still, we're talking 38C. Good thing I'll be south when it hits. :)
If the weather forecasts are correct, we're going to get up to 40C this week in the Seattle area. That's quite a bit warmer than usual.
@kdfrawg Humans are good at assessing immediate danger, but not so good at assessing longer-term risk. Most of these issues do not fall in the "immediate danger" category, and the behaviors necessary to mitigate those risks impede convenience, so most people don't bother.
