Countyside between Helsinki and Salo

Took a train from Helsinki to Salo this morning and captured about aminute or so of the countryside from the train. Not much going on here, but you get a flavor for what Finland looks like outside of the majormetro areas.

Countryside En Route to Salo, Finland

Helsinki Train Station

Hanging out, waiting for my train to Salo. My train isn't here yet, so I figured I'd take a moment and send a snapshot.

That's Good Service

My bathroom counter in the hotel didn't look like this when I left it, that's for sure. Also found my t-shirt and shorts folded and left at the foot of my bed.

Double Work Day

One of the challenges of coming to Finland is the fact that most of the people I deal with on a regular basis are still back in California. As a result, the business day in Finland is relatively free of outside interruptions. However, my evenings are a different matter entirely. As California comes online, the Nokia E62 I currently carry will start vibrating as email comes in. The phone will ring constantly.

If it's anything like my last trip to Finland, I will be a zombie after it is over, having literally worked every waking hour of the day between the business where I am at physically and the business I need to attend to back on the west coast USA. I guess my employer is getting their money's worth when I come here. ;)

Target Practice

As Frank Zappa said, "watch out where the huskies go."

Something About Those Dogs

They are supposedly French. Make your own joke here.

Beer and a Show

The hosts of this show drink beer while filming. Seems appropriate I should drink beer while watching. :)

Finland, Finland, Finland

The country where I will be for the next week. I will be starting my journey later today. Hopefully the batteries in my devices will hold out that long. :)

QotD: Timeless Albums

What are some of your favorite, forgotten albums that have stood the test of time?
Submitted by PeterGibbons.

Perhaps the most timeless album is Dark Side of the Moon, mainly because it's as old as I am and is continuing to sell very well. Some of my other favorites include:

  • Peter Frampton: Frampton Comes Alive
  • They Might Be Giants: Flood, Factory Showroom
  • Eagles: Their Greatest Hits, Hotel California
  • Supertramp: Breakfast in America
  • Pink Floyd: The Wall, Animals, Obscured By Clouds, The Final Cut
  • Roger Waters: The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking
  • David Gilmour: About Face
  • The Beatles: Abbey Road
  • Frank Zappa: Joe's Garage
  • Elton John: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
  • Van Halen: 1984

There's probably a bunch I am missing here.

Old Posts

You may have noticed a few posts "disappeared" from the front page. They were some old posts I had migrated over from phoneboy.com. I had to change the date on them so they were "chronologically correct" and thus appear in the right spot on Vox. My apologies for the confusion.
