In the US, you're basically basically dealing with three networks now: Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. There are also regional carriers in some areas, such as US Cellular out in this part of the world. Every other "carrier" (including the regionals for roaming out of area) buys airtime off one of these three. Dish (the satellite TV guys) is supposed to be building a fourth national network, but it remains to be seen if they can build anything that'd be considered functional or competitive to the other three.

In many respects, it's similar to the telecom situation in Canada, which is the only country that has worse competition (and pricing) than the US.

fortunately AT&T has a store in-town. If the other carrier (Xfinity Mobile) didn't require a drive to Knoxville for the nearest store, I would have gone there instead of enduring multiple phone calls with people who I have a difficult time understanding due to the language barrier…

Not sure what my ex or her lawyer are accomplishing by not finishing the order that will finalize the divorce. We already have a signed agreement that's binding…just can't execute it all until a final order is issued.

Just because a carrier says they support eSIM doesn't mean they support it on all phones that support eSIM. At least that's how the American carriers seem to operate. That resulted in me screwing up the service on BOTH my phones yesterday when they bricked my physical SIM cards.

On the plus side, AT&T had an amazing deal on an iPhone 14 Plus ($5/mo after bill credits for three years). With the iPhone 14 Pro I ordered a few weeks ago still coming…I guess I'll have two new iPhones.

Whether you call it God, the Universe, or use a different name, fear should not enter into the conversation at all. As Napoleon Hill said in his book Outwitting the Devil [en.wikipedia.org], it's the primary tool the devil uses to control people.

Visited my step-mama yesterday. Ended up driving through Lynchburg on my way there. Next time, I’ll stop in the distillery.

A 256gb 14 Pro in purple. The SE is a little too small and the 6.7” phones like the iPhone XS Max I have are a little too big. So we’ll try a 6.1” one…

There are far too many religious people who use fear to get you to comply with their exact view of the world.

Huh, I might get my new iPhone before Christmas after all…
