If you have diabeetus [nejm.org], taking low-dose aspirin daily lowers your risk of a serious vascular event by 12% but increases your risk of major bleeding by 29%. Sounds like something else I'm better off not taking.

I saw bits of that game on NFL Red Zone. It's like that team invents new ways to lose.

Of course, I was thinking the same thing about the 49ers today, who almost let Detroit come back from a 20 point deficit, but got bailed out on a defensive holding call that negated what would have been a crushing interception.

and the drug companies can "patent" the newer, perhaps marginally more effective drugs, and charge lots for them.

there's a reason I said "ideal world." I know it won't fly in the real world.

What ever happened to Saturday night?
Finding a sweetheart and holding her tight… ?

I replaced the processor fan more than once on a particular Lenovo I had--about $20. Specifically because the machine would no longer boot because the fan wasn't working.

I'm not so sure it's better, since in most of these systems, ultimately "someone else" is responsible for the platform. That "someone else" is perhaps more visible than on, say, Twitter or Facebook, and there may be a bit more transparency about decisions as a result, but they can also be bullied by the mob.

In an ideal world, these systems would be entirely distributed and only the end user could make a decision about what they will and will not see. Any "censorship" decision, in this case, would only affect one individual.

This was a Centrino Dru processor. In a laptop. So, you know, not very well cooled. ?

Or time to just ignore them all.

Amazing how hot this Lenovo X60 gets.
