Huh. The US Department of State actually has a site where you can check on the status of your passport application [passportstatus.state.gov], and they're already showing me in the system.

Still wonder why it takes 6-8 weeks to process "routine" renewals.

with that crowd? You're probably right.

Meanwhile, I'm going to hang back and avoid eating any of it. I definitely don't need the carbs.

There are now four teenage boys in my house. Hopefully the two Costco pizzas will keep them occupied for a few minutes anyway.

you're better off doing that every day. Plenty of stuff out there you have no control over.

@thrrgilag someone's testing the HAARP array. :P

exactly. And you wonder why Uber is looking at self-driving technology. They know where it's going.

// @kdfrawg

I'm not even talking San Francisco proper, I'm talking about the wider area. You'd have to sit in traffic for two hours from such a location to even get to the city. :P

@kdfrawg for sure I can see the existing system doesn't work. Whether self-driving cars are part of the solution remains to be seen. I do know that once it becomes practical to hire a self-driving car on demand at a reasonable cost, I'm going to think twice about owning a car.

Hopefully that will be available by the time I'm old enough where I shouldn't be driving. :P

clearly you haven't seen the San Francisco Bay Area housing market. People pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a piece of property with a house on it, only to tear the house down and build something else on it.

not a confrontational person, clearly.
