I’d like it to be lower but it’s still a far cry better than it has been.

I suspect there is more in common with Spanish/Portuguese speakers than there is with English speakers (which is the closest thing we have to a universal language). Plenty of room for misunderstandings.

@kdfrawg the only way that's going to be fixed is moving to IPv6, but that's a whole different can of worms.

@kdfrawg considering there is a shortage of IPv4 addresses, it's not terribly surprising. It rarely affects most people, but in this particular case, the extra cost is well worth the time it saves in firing up my demos.

I expect it will be.

@kdfrawg my favorite charge: you pay a half cent per hour for an elastic IP that is allocated to you but not attached to an instance that is running.

I just now realized by looking at my bill that I had two IPs allocated, but really only need to keep one. That just saved me a couple bucks.

My AWS bill last month was about $44, which is not bad for setting up and running a few demos for user groups. Hopefully it stays in that range.

Never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to create and destroy infrastructure in AWS…and how costly it can be.
