@JeremyCherfas it will be a hell of a lot more useful than my deck was, especially given the climate around these parts.
@matigo that's the idea behind this space. It has a gas fireplace to keep warm when it's 5C and raining outside. A ceiling fan will keep it cool in the summer.
Tonight we verified our new gas grill we bought will fit in the space made for it. Because, you know, trust but verify.
In addition to finishing up the masonry, electrical and painting still needs to be done. And we need to acquire some granite for the countertop around where the grill will go. But it's definitely starting to take shape.
@kdfrawg exactly. That said, there is plenty of debate over which distro is best. It's not quite as bad as the vi versus emacs debate… :P

@kdfrawg I'd rather use a PC as a server, personally. The hardware is cheaper and, when I do dip into the CLI, I feel a bit more confident in my ability to tinker with Linux than I do a Mac. :)

@kdfrawg the funny thing is: we eat way more than we need to. Fasting (whether voluntary or not) is a natural thing for us to do, and we've been doing it as long as humans have existed.
While I wouldn't necessarily call it a cure like Upton Sinclair did in The Fasting Cure [archive.org], I definitely see and feel the benefits.
@kdfrawg I wish I could find a device that I wouldn't have to tinker with in some way. Macs require a little LESS tinkering than, say, a Windows PC, but they still have their issues.
Like resetting PRAM. And then your Mac not booting. ?

@kdfrawg yeah, that sounds a bit excessive. That said, if I fast for several days, that could be a possibility.
@kdfrawg Very aware that 1-2 pounds a week is considered "healthy." Not talking any more than that.
