@matigo she knows she won’t get the deal she has now once this is finalized. And, worse, she’ll have to get a job, which you’d think more than a year AFTER we discussed divorce that she’d have something…anything.
After paying this month's bills, which included a hefty retainer for a new divorce lawyer, my financial cushion is now completely gone. From here, things could get interesting, especially since my ex is doing everything she can to delay the inevitable.
The only new fact I learned about my divorce this past week is my ex-wife’s lawyer hasn’t been responding to communications from my lawyer. Considering mediation is scheduled for next week and she still owes answers to my requests…this could get interesting.
If I told y’all what happened over the last 24 hours or so, you wouldn’t believe it. That said, I should have something in the way of confirmation in the very near future…
Somehow, I went from fearing the email where all the divorce correspondence goes to actually relishing it. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
She did the one thing you never want to do in a family law case: make your own lawyer look bad.

One of two things is fixing to happen in my divorce:
- I’m about to get an offer to settle
- My not soon enough ex will be exposed for what she is in court
Have I mentioned I love my new lawyer?
@matigo the only downside of changing lawyers (aside from the cost, of course) is that the scheduled trial date (if it gets there) will have to be pushed due to a previous trial. Of course, if the other side doesn't provide answers before the scheduled mediation date, that could get pushed…which might push the trial date further.
I suspect she'll want to settle this because the one thing a narcissist hates most is being exposed. And…she's provided more than enough for me to do exactly that.
I love my new divorce attorney. He:
- Calls me Mr. Welch
- Hasn't wasted my time
- Has given me pretty solid advice
- Does stuff without me explicitly asking him to…like serving my not soon enough ex with a discovery request about her attempts to achieve gainful employment during 2022.
I suspect this will force her to the negotiating table.
