She did the one thing you never want to do in a family law case: make your own lawyer look bad.

I’m ready to put all this behind me.

One of two things is fixing to happen in my divorce:

  • I’m about to get an offer to settle
  • My not soon enough ex will be exposed for what she is in court

Have I mentioned I love my new lawyer?

the only downside of changing lawyers (aside from the cost, of course) is that the scheduled trial date (if it gets there) will have to be pushed due to a previous trial. Of course, if the other side doesn't provide answers before the scheduled mediation date, that could get pushed…which might push the trial date further.

I suspect she'll want to settle this because the one thing a narcissist hates most is being exposed. And…she's provided more than enough for me to do exactly that.

I love my new divorce attorney. He:

  • Calls me Mr. Welch
  • Hasn't wasted my time
  • Has given me pretty solid advice
  • Does stuff without me explicitly asking him to…like serving my not soon enough ex with a discovery request about her attempts to achieve gainful employment during 2022.

I suspect this will force her to the negotiating table.

The old lawyer asked for an address to mail the remainder of the retainer to. That along with the notice filed with the court last week means…the new lawyer is officially onboard with my divorce.

When you’re restarting your life from scratch, there are a LOT of unexpected costs. That said, I think I’ve taken care of the most pressing things and should be well stocked on the basics.

I still have some cushion but it’s rapidly disappearing…

On the divorce front, no news is good news. Except for the fact I spent almost double what I bring in a month in the month of September due to the change in counsel.

it’d be great if I could manage enough of that to cover everything but…
