If she could have actually been an adult and file taxes the way we'd done the last 25 years, we would have done a joint return for 2021 and gotten a refund. Instead, she chose to violate a court order and filed a separate return…and got a refund.

I got her tax return through discovery and see she claimed things she had no right to claim considering I made all the income in 2021. The tax return I filed based on that is practically guaranteed to cause an audit for both of us even though I ended up owing money. And, unfortunately for her, the facts are on my side.

Pretty sure even if parties agree to something in writing, if it contains provisions that would require you to knowingly commit a crime or be complicit in criminal activity, those provisions are not enforceable in court.
